    Even though I’m unqualified to make this conjecture, I wonder whether this melt is caused global warming or local warming caused by the massive increase in human activity in the Arctic region.

    Yeah yeah, I know - Act globally, there is no locally.

    Sounds like a straight forward thermodynamics issue. Do the math & see how the numbers work out.
